Last years near zero budget increase caused us to reach a tipping point. The schools are running at a bare-bones level, a decrease would adversely impact them. The town-side of the budget can be trimmed a little bit, but the First Selctman’s salary should not be cut. In short, Bethel needs a modest increase, but one that is not as high as the Bethel Board of Finance has proposed.

Currently, there is a “foreclosure crisis” because of the economy and because of Government regulations. Connecticut is, in general, doing better than average and Bethel is in even better shape.
