The Federal Government appears to be starting the takeover of our nation’s press. Apparently, President Obama’s “boycott” of Fox news didn’t work, and so the FTC is going to be the spearhead of this action. The proposal has so many bad things in it that I’ll merely list them, and not comment too much.

What Connecticut’s Nitrogen Credit Exchange Costs Us

The State of Connecticut is playing at being a sort of “reverse Robin Hood” by taking money from cities that cannot afford to upgrade their wastewater treatment plants and giving it to the municipalities that have been able to afford the upgrade. What’s worse is that while I’m sure that this exchange was conceived with the best of intentions, it has become just another tax; a tax that cost the users of the Danbury wastewater treatment plant $1,108,335 in 2009, and gave Stamford $961,118.

2010-2011 Bethel Budget: We Need A Modest Increase

Last years near zero budget increase caused us to reach a tipping point. The schools are running at a bare-bones level, a decrease would adversely impact them. The town-side of the budget can be trimmed a little bit, but the First Selctman’s salary should not be cut. In short, Bethel needs a modest increase, but one that is not as high as the Bethel Board of Finance has proposed.
